Accessibility Statement

Last updated:

Surfing Hubs is committed to making surfinghubs.com and our apps usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability or assistive technology.

Our commitment

Surfing Hubs is committed to making surfinghubs.com and our mobile apps usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability, age, or assistive technology. We treat accessibility as a design and engineering requirement, not an afterthought.

Standards we target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) published by the W3C. Specifically WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Where the applicable legal framework (such as the Americans with Disabilities Act in the United States, the European Accessibility Act, or AODA in Ontario) sets a higher bar, we aim to meet that as well.

What we are doing

  • Building with semantic HTML, ARIA where appropriate, sufficient color contrast, keyboard-accessible interactions, and visible focus states.
  • Testing major user flows with screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA), keyboard navigation, and reduced-motion settings.
  • Including accessibility checks in our code-review process and in our design-system component library.
  • Reviewing photos and other media for meaningful alternative text where it conveys information.
  • Honoring user preferences signaled by the operating system (prefers-color-scheme, prefers-reduced-motion, prefers-contrast).

Known limitations

  • Interactive maps rely on third-party libraries that have limited screen-reader support. We provide text-based alternatives (lists, search results, listing detail pages) for all map-driven features.
  • User-submitted content (photos, reviews, listings) may not include alternative text. We are working on prompts and tooling that make this easier for contributors.
  • Embedded video from third-party hosts may not include captions for every clip. We are auditing our catalog and adding captions where missing.

Feedback and alternate formats

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of the Service. If you encounter a barrier, or if you need a piece of content in an alternate format, contact us at hello@surfinghubs.com. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days and to provide either a resolution or a plan within 30 days. Please include:

  • The page, feature, or document you had difficulty with (URL helps).
  • The assistive technology and browser or device you were using.
  • A brief description of the issue and what would help.

Third-party content

Parts of the Service may include content or functionality provided by third parties (mapping libraries, payment widgets, embedded video). We cannot guarantee the accessibility of third-party components, but we will work with vendors and provide alternatives where feasible.

Formal complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with your national or regional accessibility regulator (for example, in the U.S., the U.S. Department of Justice under Title III of the ADA, or your state attorney general’s office).
