Carolina Coast Surf Club
Sullivan's Island, SC
A South Carolina nonprofit surf club formed in 1963 by a group of local surfers and reformed in 2001, based around Sullivan's Island near Charleston. Membership is open to anyone interested in surfing and in preserving the area's beaches and oceans.
Doheny Longboard Surfing Association
Dana Point, CA
A Dana Point longboard club active since 1988, the DLSA runs surf contests and social events at Doheny State Beach, provides student scholarships, and supports state parks and local charities. Signature events include the Menehune & Surfin' 60s contest and the Velzy Surf Contest & Luau honoring surfboard builder Dale Velzy.
Hawaii Surfing Association
Honolulu, HI
Formed in the early 1960s on Oahu, the Hawaii Surfing Association is an amateur competitive surfing organization that runs at least 11 contests a year on Oahu, with affiliated events on Hawaii, Maui, and Kauai. Its divisions cover shortboard, longboard, bodyboard, and kneeboard.
Malibu Surfing Association
Malibu, CA
Founded in November 1961 as one of California's first surf clubs, the MSA is dedicated to promoting surf culture and protecting the surfing environment at Malibu. It hosts the annual MSA Classic invitational contest at First Point / Surfrider Beach, a tradition tracing back to the first Malibu contest in 1963.
Manasquan Boardriders Club
Manasquan, NJ
A 501(c)(3) boardriders club dedicated to the surf community of Manasquan, New Jersey. It runs surf competitions and community events for its members along the Jersey Shore.
New York Board Riders Club
Long Beach, NY
A volunteer-run, not-for-profit chapter of the United States Board Riders Club, based in Long Beach and founded in 2023. It organizes surfers from Long Island, New York City, and the Hudson Valley across seven age and gender divisions and runs competitions, beach cleanups, and fundraising.
Pacific Beach Surf Club
San Diego, CA
Originally founded in 1957 and revived in 1994, the Pacific Beach Surf Club is a nonprofit member club in San Diego and a member of the Coalition of Surfing Clubs. It runs beach cleanups, surf clinics, and coalition contests up and down the California coast.
San Onofre Surfing Club
San Onofre, CA
A membership surf club dedicated to San Onofre State Beach, one of California's historic longboard breaks. Annual membership supports preservation of and continued public access to the beach, and the club runs an event lineup through the year. It is administered out of San Clemente.
Santa Cruz Longboard Union
Santa Cruz, CA
Founded in 1981, the SCLU is a nonprofit longboard club at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz. It runs the Memorial Day Longboard Invitational, which the club bills as the longest-running longboard contest in the U.S. , competes within the Coalition of Surfing Clubs, and raises money for local nonprofits.
Smyrna Surfari Club
New Smyrna Beach, FL
Founded in 1979, the Smyrna Surfari Club is a longstanding surf club in New Smyrna Beach, Florida that unites local surfers and supports area students. Its affiliated Smyrna Surfari Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
South Bay Boardriders Club
Hermosa Beach, CA
A 501(c)(3) boardriders club based in Hermosa Beach that draws surfers from across the South Bay: Palos Verdes, Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan, and El Segundo. It runs a surf series and youth surf team and organizes community and shoreline-stewardship events, including its Surfin' Santa toy drive.
Texas Gulf Surfing Association
Corpus Christi, TX
Founded in 1988, the TGSA is a 501(c)(3) amateur surfing association on the Texas Gulf Coast, centered in the Coastal Bend around Corpus Christi. It runs family-oriented competitions and youth programs up and down the Texas coast and funds the John Olvey Scholarship.
Waikiki Surf Club
Honolulu, HI
Founded in February 1948 by beach boys including John Lind, Wally Froiseth, and George Downing, the Waikiki Surf Club is a nonprofit dedicated to perpetuating Hawaiian culture through amateur water sports. A founding sponsor of the Makaha International Surfing Championships, it has operated for more than 75 years.
Windansea Surf Club
La Jolla, CA
A nonprofit surf club based at Windansea Beach in La Jolla, first formed in 1947 and reformed by Chuck Hasley in 1963 to field a team for the Malibu Invitational. Early members included Mike Hynson, Butch Van Artsdalen, and Skip Frye. The club promotes surfing goodwill and fields teams in coalition surf contests.
Wrightsville Beach Longboard Association
Wrightsville Beach, NC
The WBLA promotes surfing for all ages and abilities at Wrightsville Beach, hosts contests, and supports local charitable initiatives. It has been inducted into the Waterman Hall of Fame and holds regular monthly meetings.
