  It was my first surfing experience and it was a memorable lesson. Bruce was direct and mildly genial in his instruction. He took us through the steps with clarity and offered variations where a student or two struggled. Somehow I expected a video tutorial as well because in the past, I had to watch a video tutorial at the start of my dive lessons but that’s a different story; And this is a different sport. So off to the water we go. I highly recommend wearing reef shoes because the rocks are plentiful and stubbing your toes on the way out (or in) is no fun. And, long sleeves to mitigate possible forearm burn from friction with beginners surf board is also a good idea. Bruce provided those and by the end of the day, I was doubly grateful. In the group, I had the least successful mounts, but not for lack of trying. My class was small and everyone was super encouraging. The waves were good for beginners and it was quite a thrill to ride a wave. This will definitely not be my last. What could be improved? Well, I’d need more lessons for comparison. For my first time it was a solid experience. 9/10

  I did the 5-day surf camp with Bruce (with a dorm-bed accommodation at The Beachhouse) The resort staff were super cool and friendly. Mingling with fellow travellers was easy thanks to meeting them at the surfing + the really chill vibes of the place. Food was excellent each night and reasonably priced. My dorm room + communal showers were also nice. The roaming family-friendly dogs were a really great part of my stay. Doing surfing each day in a row turned out to be a solid amount of work (given the conditions) but this was all totally worth it, when some good waves rolled in and my muscles + balance were ready (kinda). In addition to his helpful surfing tips, Bruce also took us out for sunset beverages. I wish I had visited this place years ago. I can't wait to return.

  Oh my goodness our time here was INCREDIBLE! Bruce took us out to the mini break and we all had so much fun learning to surf! The beach from hammocks were a favourite for the kids and the coconut pina colada was up there with one of the best I’ve ever had!!! Absolutely incredible experience and I can’t wait to go back!!!

  I had so much fun on the board and in the waves! I felt super safe all the time and the instructor took really good care about me and my friends. I stand up really easily! Makes me wanna stay here and practice for a while.
